Should the plate with inserts be covered while reconstructing epidermis on polycarbonate filters?

Hello!

I might have a silly question: while reconstructing epidermis on polycarbonate filters, should the plate with inserts be covered? Or should it be totally exposed?.. I was positive that I should cover my culture to avoid infections, but it was pointed out to me that I might be wrong... Can you clarify that for me?
