Research Gate is a social network for researchers. People here often ask questions about science, but sometimes also about life in general. Do you think using emojis in Research Gate discussions is a good idea. I mean a bold BMJ 2018 paper suggested that we can start using emojis in writing papers (link below). So, would using emoji here be useful? Would it attract more readers and make the science conversations more engaging? Or do you think emojis do not belong to science?

Abdelrahman - I agree with Subir. There is 'no harm' in using them as long as they are used in the right context. Rather than replace academic content - they are useful to highlight if scholars might be making a comment that is perhaps 'tounge in cheek' - but open to mis-interpretation. If the BMJ, as historical and influential as it is, is willing to publish on it (given over-riding rules one would imagine) - then it's worth considering.
Honestly, yes. I think physicians and researchers should come down from their ivory tower and become more (user)friendly both to one another and to patients and the general public.
