What are the causes of sudden sensory hearing loss immediately after ear surgery ?

What is the exact nature of hearing loss caused due to drill injury or avulsion of stapes? - 1. Is it always with nausea, vomiting, nystagmus and vertigo ? or can it be plain hearing loss too?

2. Is it profound immediately ? or progresses soon over a period of few hours to days ?
