A few colleagues were discussing this recently. Some of us prefer seeing colleagues mix personal (e.g., snapshots of the user's dog) and professional (e.g., research-oriented) Twitter content, because it humanizes the Twitter user; while others prefer to see strictly professional content, since it streamlines the newsfeed and allows followers to hone in on relevant content.
