Hello everyone,

I have a Shimadzu GC-2030 connected to a GCMS system and I'm experiencing multiple communication issues after restarting the system following a shutdown. I'm relatively new to this equipment and would appreciate expert guidance.

Background:We had to shut down the system and are now trying to restart it, but we're facing several connection problems that seem to have developed after the shutdown.

Current Issues:

  • SPL Injector Recognition Problem: The software has lost connection with the GC SPL injector and doesn't recognize it anymore. This was working fine before the shutdown.
  • GC-MS Communication Loss: The MS and GC connection seems to be completely lost. The MS icon doesn't appear on the GC touchscreen, and the detector menu is completely empty despite the RS-232C cable being connected.
  • Flow Issues: Total flow is showing zero, which might be related to the injector recognition problem.
  • Software Connection: The software doesn't recognize the GC components that were previously configured.
  • System Status:

    • Both GC and MS units individually show "Ready" status
    • Hardware appears to be functioning
    • All cables seem to be connected properly

    Questions:

    • Is this a common issue after system shutdown/restart?
    • Are these problems typically related to each other?
    • What systematic approach should we follow to restore all connections?
    • Could this be a software initialization issue or hardware communication problem?

We're currently working with technical support, but any additional insights from the research community would be extremely helpful.

    Thank you for your help.
