Choosing a journal for the publication of research articles is becoming increasingly difficult and a source of concern. a very interesting question. I supose not all themes are appropiate for all journals. if there are more bioinformatic based,chemical based... maybe it would be a better selection than the rest.(I supose impact too, better a llw one for a start)
Yes, that's right, choosing a journal for a research paper is not an easy matter. Journals with a high level of recognition in the scientific world and included in the Scopus and / or Web of Science lists usually require high fees for publishing an article. I am completely agree with your question. Sometimes articles get rejected due to the lack of ability of choosing an appropriate journal. It increases a frustration on the researchers, it's a huge loss. We should know the weight of our research articles and try to publish in the appropriate journals (may be lower ranked during the beginning of the research journey). We should gradually try for high ranked with an experience from the previous works, reviewers responses and innovation we make. Thanks, all the previous answers in this question. You can never know precisely if the quality of your submitted work matches the journal's reputability and impact factor. I guess the best way to estimate that is to compare the level of contributions made by similar recently published articles with the study under question. That's your best bet going forward. That and getting recommendations from a number of colleagues on where to submit your newly written manuscript.
