Abstract:
This research study aims to investigate the implementation of Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR), and Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies in architecture education. The research problem revolves around the need to explore the the awareness of architecture educators regarding the integration of these emerging technologies into the curriculum. By understanding their perspectives, the study aims to address the gap in research focusing on the specific role of architecture educators in adopting VR, AR, and AI in educational settings. The research question guiding this study is: What are the awareness of architecture educators towards the implementation of VR, AR, and AI in architecture education? The research aims of this study are to evaluate the awareness and knowledge levels of architecture educators concerning VR, AR, and AI technologies, examine the perceived advantages and challenges linked to the integration of these technologies in architecture education, investigate the potential effects of these technologies on architectural design processes, student engagement, and learning outcomes, and identify the essential resources, training, and support needed for the effective implementation of of these technologies in architecture education. An online survey data collection methods approach will be employed to address the research question, primarily utilizing a structured questionnaire. The questionnaire will capture quantitative and qualitative data from architecture educators, focusing on their awareness, knowledge, perceived benefits, challenges, and resource requirements related to VR, AR, and AI technologies. The audience of this survey is targeted towards a specific geographic location which is Iraq. The research study's conclusion will be based on the analysis of the gathered data and provide insights into the following aspects: awareness and knowledge, perceived benefits and challenges, impact on architectural design processes and learning outcomes, necessary resources and support. Overall, the conclusion will summarize the research findings and potential path for further research to advance the integration of VR, AR, and AI in architecture education.
