Dear All,
Recently, I started my data collection from google scholar. For my meta-analysis, I have searched with periods. When searching with specific keywords with the time range 2000-2023, my search results are 30,600, and when searching 2001-2023, my results are 34,500. My question is, how does the number of results decrease with more periods? Which one shall I consider as standard?

First of all, I would not rely on Google Scholar as one of my main search databases. The Cochrane Collaboration sets the standards for how to conduct a systematic review. The databases they require are Cochrane CENTRAL, MEDLINE, and EMBASE. I would recommend starting with those three if your research question is appropriate for them. You can add appropriate subject-specific databases afterwards. Working with a reference librarian trained in Cochrane reviews will help ensure your searches across all of the databases are as similar as possible.
