Some "colleagues" are always travelling to exotic places for "conferences", "congress", "presenting a paper".... Is there any indicators or even scientific literature to understand this phenomena...
Top three reasons: (1) to be seen, (2) to be heard, and (3) to see old colleagues, old friends, old classmates in new surroundings, hopefully in a country one has not been too before.
Yes, I will agree with Dr Dennis Mazur, people sometimes see travelling to places as the opportunity to present themselves and their works internationally, to visit/meet friends, family, colleagues, to initial research collaboration and/or for vacation or to relax.
