That would be a simplification surely? Gamification draws on the complete field of games design, even though points is a fundamental part.
I don't think so. Scores are a just a small part of gamification process.

You are right, but as far as I concern most of the experiences applied in classroom or even on the marketing process, rewards including points, badges and leaderboards are the most common mechanics among others.
