I am a Msc psychology student and working on my desertation project on role of empathy in development of close friendship in multicultural environment. Kindly suggest a good and valid questionnaire measures available to tap in both the variables.
Mark H. Davis (1980) has a multi-dimensional measure of empathy, which might prove useful as a starting point to assess cognitive as well as emotional aspects of empathy. (Knowing or understanding what someone is thinking is a different skill than sensing or feeling what someone else is feeling.) A more recent approach to measure empathy by Jeewon Oh and colleagues (2019) used the California Adult Q-sort. That one was published in SPPS. These measures might have to be adjusted for your purposes.
