While health services managers are not necessarily particularly research literate and no t all organisations are research active, the idea of research is not alien to them. I think it's well worth a try. Twitter and Linkedin well worth a try but i suspect a direct phone call or (failing that) email) to a senior person is likely to be more productive. Do a bit of background research to get the names before you start.

Don't expect people to be impressed by you, a PhD or your supervisor (if they are that's a bonus) but work on piquing their interest in what you are actually researching.

Hi Justin, I am facing a similar challenge with my doctoral research. Dr Griffiths is correct about pursuing a healthcare facility based on the diversity of services offered. My current strategy to target a Hospital, especially one that does training and research. You may also consider a large university, as faculty and even administrative employees tend to have a greater appreciation for the value, importance and challenges that a research faces in accessing and collecting data - especially in action research. Finally, if you are open to doing the legwork, government departments may also be an option in that they usually have broad organisations with numerous teams, though they may be spreader over different physical locations.

Let me reiterate what Dr Griffiths said, you must emphasize how you will invest your time and effort in meeting their own needs. Most organisations won't be too impressed with your doctorate objectives or your supervisor. They just want to get great value (for free :)). So pitch to deliver the value while organizing to get your data.

Maybe the business school at your university has relationships with organizations they could suggest? Am thinking of organizations which contract for executive education delivered by the business school, or the alumni network. If under an industry research partnership, can I suggest that the researcher needs to be clear about the value proposition - what the organization will get out of the research process - as they will be investing time and effort in allowing a researcher in, and the time of their people taking part in surveys, etc. Will the results be shared with them, and in what form, how might the results help them, what other services might the researcher provide (eg being a speaker at an internal conference, helping by facilitating a workshop) and so on.

Are you specific about any organization or industry you would like to go. And Also wanted to check if your research is restricted to your country only. If you are looking for hospitals and other organization. You can reach to out to other countries also. Like India.

Hi Justin, several IT and BPO global firms have teams across locations; some teams are structured product wise for development and support activities on a particular product; some teams are composed because of competence in a particular technology or domain; and often teams are at a particular geography or on-site to support a large client. These organizations have a large number of teams.

However, as earlier researchers have pointed out, you have to work out your value proposition for them. What is the organization gaining from the man-hours that they will spend doing the survey? They will certainly help you when the benefits are clear.

The organisations that will need to be involve in your research will depend on your research objectives, that is to say, what are you specifically looking at?

The data about the size of organizations you can get from the official statistics. Then try the following:

- find a relative of you, your parents, your professors or their friends (whole social network, you are a member) in higher management (the best: CEO) and ask for help;

- write a letter to the top management (CEO-s or memebers of the managing board) telling them, that they will contribute a lot to the development of science, if they allowe you to do the research in their company (add recommondation of your mentor, your Faculty or/and your University etc to your letter);

- write a personal letter to the CEO-s telling them, that you are in big troubles with your career if you wiil not succede with that research, that you know, they are open to the science, that they support the science etc. - and that is, why you are bagging them to help you.

Dont forget to mention that your research will not disturb the work process in the organosation, thea the results of the research will be used only in science, that they wiil be the first to see the results, that the name of the company will not be published if they do not want to be identified publicly etc. Good luck!
