I am studying the rheology of pastes. I understand temperature and frequency sweeps should be conducted within the linear viscoelastic region of the material. How do I confirm my applied strain/or any controlled variable (during temperature and frequency sweeps) is within the linear viscoelastic region? Some papers suggest a strain/stress sweep, but it is not totally clear to me. Can I get a better clarification?
Secondly, when I conduct replicates of temperature sweeps, my values of G' and G'' are markedly different from each other. For instance, the value at the first data point for G' is 14023 Pa, while the replicate is 7293 Pa. Does anyone have any explanation as to why I am getting this variation is readings even after maintaining the same experimental conditions and using the same rheometer?
Any ideas will be greatly appreciated.
