I am interested in identifying the primary lower molecular weight organic compounds (e.g. organic acids, furfurnals etc.) formed after oxidizing sucrose by MnO2 and Co3O4 in mildly acidic environment. I understand that LC-MS is a good technique but the solution contains some cobalt and manganese cations, which are not good for the column. Is direct injection into the MS an alternative approach? I feel that the data obtained will be too difficult to be intepret.

Please I need your help. Any suggestion is welcome.
