For each start-up of the skids, our seawater reverse osmosis plant is experiencing some problems with the quality of the permeate water. Conductivity is extremely high at each skid startup, but after 48 to 72 hours of continuous use, the quality returned to normal. In order to prevent water loss, we need to know what factors might be at play and how to identify and permanently address those factors.
RO (Reverse Osmosis) is a way to clean water. But there are some things to watch out for:-
1. Minerals Gone: RO can take out good minerals like calcium.
2. Slight Acidity: The cleaned water might be a bit acidic.
3. Bacteria Risk: If not maintained, some bacteria might get through.
4. Clogging: Dirt can block the system, making it less effective.
5. Waste: RO produces some waste that’s not good for the environment.
6. Taste: The water might taste a bit off because it lacks natural minerals.
7. Maintenance: RO systems need regular checks to work well.
In short, while RO is great for purifying water, it needs regular care, and sometimes minerals might need to be added back for taste and health.
