What is "TEM/EDS image"? EDS map is the EDS image.

Yes I think they need TEM/EDS analysis due to TEM image give detail about your materials defects. Additionally EDS image supported by mapping may give information about elemental constituent and detail constituent of your materials in percent. eg as Si (x %,) Ca (y%)......
