I was reading an academic work on the field of philosophy of education and found out that the paper had a completely different structure to the conventional scientific research. Do researchers in philosophy of education follow a different structure and approach when conducting academic research?
In philosophy the "research" consists of conceptual analysis, thought-experiments, and argumentation, so the structure of articles commonly found in the natural and social sciences and the notion of research design wouldn't make much sense.
I don't know the article you mention Joseph, but my feeling is that normally the structure is not very different. my suggestion is to focus on top journals in Philosophy of Eduction like the journal of philosophy of education, and to allign your work with the structure these papers have. hope this helps. vincent
Thank you vincent, but specifically on methodology. I was reading some arguements that research design is not necessary in philosophy of education as well as the general research paradigm.
