Researches of various disciplines are performed following the concepts and methodologies established in some developed countries. The required chemicals and equipments are imported from such countries in many cases. The higher research depending on the result of basuc researches to get active patent to convert the ideas to money are also performed in those countries. Even publication of research results as articles are also performed mainly in those countries.
Through all of these, some developed countries are benefited.

In developing countries research is an accedamic activity.

In my opinion some of the research works may be beneficial to both developing as well as developed countries. World is more or less getting integrated. Some of the equipments may have to be imported. There is lot of requirements for research publications. More and more journals need to be published while maintaining quality and contents.
Dear Dr Shibabrata Pattanayak, you have every right to think from that side even we from this part of the world feel the same but I don't think it intentionally. You spoke as if you know what people are going through to catch up with the researchers from the developed world. We import every reagent except distilled water, we rely on equipment abroad for the analysis and we leave our faith to developed world to decide when it is time to publish. The question of who benefits has a clear answer. Thanks for that observation.

Knowledge transfer comes with a cost , they develop the technology and expect returns . They(developed) can get patents in the other country too . It is a beneficial thing except developed countries cannot independently patent other countries natural commodities . E.g: US wanted to patent something with Neem and that was turn down .
This why US-China have a trade war - IP issues .
India allows foreign investments (every country does) e.g: 49-51 %
India buys military stuff so does Canada ...
No , it is not about weak or rich , it is about growth and unfortunately if there are no home-grown technology then we need to buy , R&D is expensive in terms of Human resource and $$$ resource too.

It is a very important question. The premise is partly true. However I don't think it will be wise to stop research in the developing countries for this. On the other hand the research directions should properly be oriented such that the results are beneficial to the nation. We must remember that even for a tube of tooth paste we depend on MNC's. However, I believe that the situation is changing in India.
For those with a weak soul and greedy in the developed countries, then yes it is but this is a rare case for sure.

We are living 21st century where scientific with the electronic progress has made the world near to each other where communication , cultural environment & business may have played an unique part .Developed countries have certainly offer the other semi develop countries to offer them their research & technological development for carrying out their progressive development .
Apart from this quite a good consumer items they get a benefit thru the develop countries .
This is my personal opinion
Every one has some personal interest while supporting others except very few cases.
Unfortunately, no one thinks about small and underdeveloped countries. Nevertheless, we can all give some contribution to the development of science, someone smaller than someone else. If we want to achieve something, we must admit to ourselves that there is no excuse.
