When you concern about the research you have to apply it in related to the real practical world. Therefore I recommended to do a research based on Information Security while you are touching the other aspects of your interests. There are many issues in providing Information Security to the Banking & Finance Sector specially in Linkage with Central Bank of Sri Lanka and foreign banking network. As part of information security in IT networks, I propose the issues of improving cybercrime risk management processes in banking IT networks and in online banking. In recent years, mobile technologies have been developing rapidly in online mobile banking applications. As the key issue in the development of online banking, including mobile banking, is to improve cyber crime risk management processes, so I propose a research topic regarding the possibilities of building and using systems that simulate various types of hacker attacks and conducted by cybercriminals on systems, mobile banking applications operating in specific operating systems installed on smartphones , including the use of selected Industry 4.0 technologies to perform simulations and prognostic analyzes of the said attacks on mobile banking systems and applications. An important element of this issue is also the issue of improving the process of managing cybercrime risk, the use of machine learning technology for the said process of managing cybercrime risk, analyzing the costs of system development and ensuring a specific level of cybersecurity, as well as prospects for the development of the offer of information services and mobile banking services in correlation with the issue of cybersecurity, banking supervision guidelines for ensuring the optimal level of cybersecurity in the mobile banking offer and technology developed in banks. Improving cybersecurity technology in the applications of websites and applications created as part of electronic, online mobile banking. Analysis of the possibilities of developing applications of Industry 4.0 technology, including learning machines, blockchain, cloud computing, etc. to improve applications supported by bank customers on smartphones. In my opinion, the above-mentioned issues belong to particularly rapidly developing areas of cybersecurity. I conduct research in this area. You have various directions to move on. You should find out the answers of these questions: 1) At which environment or context you want to work on as smart home, smart finance, smart phone etc. 2) which devices or network you want to secure as iot devices, edge devices, wifi network, bluetooth network etc. 3) At what layer/protocol you need security or need to develop a generalized solution. 4) By what techniques you provide the solution as machine learning methods, blockchain etc.
A hot research topic right now is Vehicular Networking and of course, many things are still to be developed, tested, assessed so for someone interested in Networking & Network Security it can be interesting ;)
