I'm wondering if someone in the community knows about research articles regarding the diffusion behaviour of nanoparticles close to vital cells. I have only found some papers concerning the diffusion of NPs inside cells.
If you are interested in the behaviour of NP in dispersion in cell medium I would advise to look into the ISDD model (Teeguarden) and how the behaviour influences the delivered and cellular dose of the NP.

Indeed, there are lots of papers on membrane translocation, endocytosis etc. Was the question about the NP diffusion in extracellular medium around cell, i.e. nearby (alongside or attracting to or repelling from) cellular membrane? In that case, the NP's behaviour nearby cell would be mainly dictated by interaction between its charged surface (if it's electrochemically charged) and the charge of the lipid bilayer. While inside cell, the fate of NP depends on so many factors and events occurred before, during and after endocytosis including (non-mandatory) engulfing inside lysosomes...

Well, Thorsten, there is still a room for more refinement of your question as if NP is far enough (beyond the boundary where electrostatic force between NP and lipid bilayer overcomes the Brownian motion), then NP diffusion is mainly governed by concentration gradients and so on, thus, there is no paper that regards NP and cell interaction. However, I really doubt that you can find a sort of specific paper dedicated to this special case. I guess you'd better search the following
