You need to decide about the catalyst the will be used for photocatalystic water splitting

1- catalyst preparation (chemicals, precursors, lab equipment, dryer and sometime furnace

2- catalyst characterization (SEM, XRD, UV-VIS spectrum, XPS etc)

3- application ( simulated solar light (mercury, xenon arc , etc), or real solar light (measure solar intensity))

4- Hydrogen detection

Yes you need GC (TCD) or simple hydrogen gas detector

Dear Mr. Omid,

You need a glass cell in which a quartz piece is used to transfer full spectrum of light(if you need the UV wavelengths absorbed by your cathode/anode). Furthermore, it is necessary to have a electroanalyzer to perform the photo electrochemical measurements. I recommend you to refer to my thesis document in the library of FNST. Please contact me should you need more detailed information.
