I often see papers show that during the rodent embryonic midbrain development, Lmx1a+ ventral midbrain regions (future midbrain DA neurons in the substantia nigra, ventral tegmental area and retrorubral field) are bordering Nkx2.2 (future oligodendrocytes or serotonergic neurons?) and Nkx6.2 (future motor neurons). Anyone have any idea of what brain structures Nkx2.2+ and Nkx6.2+ cells eventually become? I feel it's hard to link genetic studies with anatomical studies when it comes to ventral midbrain development.
