Hello all

1) The mild steel reaction with seawater electrolyte changes the colour (white-yellow or light yellowish) of the electrolyte.

Based on the literature I understand, the reduction of hydrogen ion on cathode increases the pH of electrolyte due to that the electrolyte colour changes.

What is the reason for that?

2) Is there any limitations for hydrogen ion reduction on the cathode (eg. only alkaline solution or any particular pH range or conditions).

Please anyone can help me with this. Share your valuable comments. That will be very helpful for me.

Regards
