since SAS university edition is out and freely available for non-commercial use (or at least what i understand), i want to buy a book for learning SAS for general statistical needs which i can also use for a desktop reference manual. I have basic knowledge of SPSS (thanks to discovering statistics using spss by Andy Field) and Stata (A gentle introduction to Stata by Alan A Acook). SAS version of Andy Field's book has some negative reviews on amazon which hesitates me. Any advice and experience is appreciated...
You can get some books as mentioned above. But there is a lot of information on internet about SAS. SAS official documentation is very rich and versatile, I recommend it. You can even get some help from SAS online forum in case you need.
If your focus is learning how to program in SAS, a good book is "The Little SAS Book". This book teaches the fundamental concepts about SAS, the SAS language and the Base SAS module (the core of the SAS system).
After reading the above book, you can pick another one that specificaly covers the statistical PROCs.
