Hi, do you have any recommendation for UV lamp to buy for causing DNA damage in vitro DNA repair comet assay? There are many options so I was wondering if anyone has particularly good experience with a specific product.
my recommendation is to use a UV crosslinker, as it comes with an energy intensity sensor. UV bulbs will deteriorate with time, losing intensity, leading to progressively lower doses at the same irradiation durations. A crosslinker allows you to set a certain dose, and the device will automatically turn off the lamps if it has been reached. Also, if you know a nearby lab regularly doing blots, you have a good chance that such a device is already available.
