These are the common causes of PV panel failure:

• Damaged PV panels or DC wires, such as mounting. screw through the back of a module or a conducting. wire pinched against a mounting rail;
• Poor connection between PV panels caused by poor. quality or aging of cable junction;
• Water ingress or damp condensation in junction box.

If the degradation occurs inside the solar panels, the main cause is the potential induced degradation in the insulation layers between the solar cells and the terminals of the module. AS for the other type of failure mechanism the insulators subjected to environments can be covered by dust and moisture. This causes leakage across the surfaces of the insulators that may cause the failure of the transmission system.

One have to keep such surfaces of the insulators clean of dust and other contaminations. It may also due to improper sizing of the insulators.
