Does anyone know if it is more realistic to use Ct, amount of DNA (in pg DNA) or number of gene copies in Real-time PCR assay? I used number of gene copies before in 2006 but very few research articles seem to use this now. Why? if we use the standard curve equation, it is likely to deduce the number of gene copies as few as tens to thousands of copies. Does this meaningful? Some journal uses detection range as 0.4 pg, which is 100000 gene copies. Is it enough for pathogen detection?

Alvin
