Is it possible to relaminarize flow in open channels by only changing the channel topology?

Assume that the channel width is greater than 4 m (b>4 m), and also the discharge is greater than 5 m3/s.

If re-laminarization is hard to achieve, can the turbulence effects be at least reduced?
