I just looked through your "Geomechanical ..." and "Investigation of cap rock ..." papers, thank you. The latter mentions that "faults may be present ..."
The seismic suggests that small faults are very much present - attachment. Statoil had a morbid view of small faults when I was there (link 1) - although that became and remains contentious (link 2 & further). Is there any chance that you will actually address their presence and effects?

Thank you for your question. We would very much like to include faults. There are several challenges given the scale at which we are modeling (which is many order of times larger than your standard reservoir model). The main issue is the inability of current simulation tools to handle small-scale faults in large-scale simulation. The second is the availability of data, or the ability to predict the location and characteristics of faults over such large areas.
OK, but just above the injector is a sensitive location. Isn't that worth a detailed model with e.g. Comsol ?
Yes, one may do that, but the domain will be then limited since grid refinement is needed to refine the faults. We have been more interested in aquifer scale applications. It's not possible to capture the small scale behavior with traditional methods. So, we are developing some upscaled methods to be able to do just what you are asking for. Stay tuned!
