Martin E. Baltazar-Lopez ...and still is according to the conspiracy theory people...
I quote Drexler: K Eric Drexler Nanosystems Page xviii “Criticism of criticism”
……assuming that nanomachines swim from point to point, then warning that Brownian motion makes such navigation impossible…These observations constitute not criticisms, but rediscoveries of elementary engineering constraints”
Alan F Rawle Fair enough, but...the cell phone, tablets, and the laptop you have in your hands making possible this communication perhaps from one continent to another in a matter of seconds were all of them once science fiction.
Martin E. Baltazar-Lopez I'm not disagreeing with you, Martin, but simply pointing out that common engineering concepts such as surface tension and Brownian motion exert enormous effects on the nanoscale. Quoting Drexler again (2 Drexler's in a row - must be a record...): “The micron scale is volumetrically 109 times larger than the nanometer scale. Confusing microtechnology with molecular technology is like confusing an elephant with a ladybug”

That's why we can't have a powder with free, independent, discrete particles < 100 nm.
