I have a theoretical/technical question, once I approach my monoband antenna to an AMC array that operates at the same frequency as the antenna, it shows another resonant frequency under the - 10 dB in S_11 plot.
Any reason for the appearance of the additional unwanted frequency ?
Is the distance between the antenna and AMC plays a role to create an electromagnetic wave noise in between that leads to create an additional resonant freq. ?

It is the same as creating a slot on a normal patch antenna. Other resonance frequencies can appear with the creation of slots. The additional resonant frequency depends on the dimensions of the slots. So, it means that you have a capacitive effect when you approach the two antennas together. The effect gradually dies away as the antennas moves further apart.

Especially, characterizing the AMC separately i.e. in specific its phase plot (mandate to view this plot), helps to understand the impact the AMC structure is going to impart post integration with antenna.
As asked, definitely the separation between AMC and antenna is supposed to create impact on its resonant frequency. where you can prefer parametric analysis to decide the spacing between the same.
