Hello!
I am doing a shear wall model in SAP2000 about a rubble stone masonry wall with an opening from the paper of Proenca et al. (2018), trying to reproduce the capacity curve obtained in this paper. I am using the shell layered/non lineal approach, putting the same constitutive behaviour -linear elastic in compression, exponencial softening in tension- that Proenca et al. (2018) use in their work. They used Diana 9.2 software for doing the numerical analysis by the way.
In the photos attached, I show the model in SAP2000, the configurations of the shell layered, pushover load case and the comparison between the Proenca curve vs the curve that I am obtaining from SAP. As you can see, the curves are not the same. I am been proving a lot of things: change parameters of the constitutive of the wall, numbers of integration ponts of the shell layer, load applied for the pushover, but I can't get close to the Proenca curve. I am pretty sure that I don't have mistakes in the model or in the application of the pushover, because I am been trying differents approaches for that.
My question is: ¿there is the possibility that SAP2000 don't be able to capture some behaviours of the model, like cracking? The Diana model used by Proenca et al. (2018) consider the Total Strain Rotating Crack Model, so I think maybe the fact that I can't reproduce that in SAP2000 are avoiding me to improve my results. I know that SAP2000 is not the most suitable software for doing this things, but anyway I want to know why I can't obtain the same results. I also know that I can perform a plastic hinge approach, but I am not interested in concentrate the plastic deformation only in this hinges, because I want to do something as similar as the paper from Proenca.
Thanks for all your answers!
