I try to hydrophobized a silicon wafer with tricholoro{1H,1H,2H,2H-perfluorooctyl} silane and methanol, but after rinsing the silicon wafer was very greasy and contaminated. which silane can I replace to solve this problem?
This silane reacts quite strongly with water, did you work in a dry or moist atmosphere?

Do you have the possibility to perform the coating in a water-free atmosphere, e.g. under argon, so that the solvolysis is only done by the methanol?
Jürgen Weippert unfortunately not because one of the important parts of my project is working in ambient air condition and mastering its difficulties, my supervisor advised me the silane chosen is wrong, today I changed it with Trimethoxy( octyl) silane, As for your suggestion, I try to be more careful about methanol and covered my samples with aluminum foil 2 layers ( for the first experiment I didn’t do that carefully )but again the surface of the silicon after rinse is not clean enough it is again a little greasy, I think maybe my protocol has problems!
