The problem every independent researcher faces is that to protect their research findings, they have to spend a fortune on patents. Many independent researchers, for this reason, either because they don't have the money or because they can spend it on other needs, leave their research unpublished. I personally have found a method for redefining seismic mechanics that will save lives and property, and I am very skeptical about whether I should publish it. I had an international patent which expired, and now after 17 years of research, I have found the perfect solution, having spent time and money, and I have to give it away without any benefit."
"In every serious publication, there should be some form of protection. We can't save lives and be ruined ourselves."
