I have recently just started the 3rd year of my degree and I am struggling with my topic. I have an idea which I have been told would be interesting and make a good topic but I am struggling with making a plan and putting the project together.
The idea is professionals’ interpretations and definitions of inclusion?
Any help and advise you have on this subject would be greatly appreciated.

Kiera Pennington I am not sure I have understood your question, but I have an interesting example. In our city we have a school were every child has an intellectual disability or/and a severe multihandicap. Many professionals define this as a segregated school. One of these children is my daughter. She has a severe intellectual disability. For her this school is a paradise were she feels deeply included. At this school it is perfectly normal to be the way she is. She is a 9th grader who loves school. All except for the summer holidays that are too long, she says, but everything else is very nice. There are schools in our area that try to integrate children in the same situation. If these children are very social they often feel included until 4th or 5th grade, but then often, for meny of these children, loneliness is reality. Who has the «most» «right» to define inclusion? Who is to pay the price of inclusion. I have suggested that «normal» children and classes could come and be included at our school instead. I can garantee they would be welcomed with love and understanding. I have yet to find parents and «normal» children who think this is a great idea. The question of inclusion is very interesting.
I would rather suggest you to compare different models of inclusion (depending on an exclusion concept), wether they are relevant/effective
Also nice topic is readiness of social groups (including professionals) to the process of inclusion in different establishments

The subject is interesting and could be turned into a good dissertation. The same can be said for any subject. However, instead of just the short title, you need to convert (rewrite) it into a topic that conveys a problem, dispute, proposition, effects etc. to make it dissertation-worthy. Try to problematise the topic; think of the aspects (gaps) that you would like to fill, the method that you would employ to address your concerns and the significance of your findings. Why do you want to do this study? Who is it going to help? What new knowledge and/or understanding is it going to provide? This will help you in choosing a suitable title that would be good for your dissertation.
I was thinking of looking at definitions suggested by literature and the reality of what inclusion looks like in settings. I was also considering looking at strategies which work towards inclusion that are suggested by literature and the ones that professionals find are actually helpful.

It seems that you have conceptualized that theoretical definitions of inclusion is different from real-life setting and that theoretical strategies are also different from the reality. Am I right is concluding this? If so, then I can see a way your study could be designed. Since it would be more likely a qualitative study, focus exclusively on the real life scenario (indepth, multisite case study, perhaps?). Then when you have your findings, compare and contrast it with theoretical claims and provide conclusions. In short, do not conduct the study with a preconceived notion that there is a mismatch between reality and theory. Do your exploration and then conclude based upon your findings.
