I was recently a poster coordinator in an international congress, I always like these experiences of sharing and getting to know the studies and opinions of other people. I would like you to share your experiences presenting at congresses, thanks
I've chaired or co-chaired a few poster sessions recently,as well as presenting, and have to admit that the first time I presented at an international meeting(ICCA Stroke 2016),I nearly considered not going!
It certainly did get easier each successive time, and the poster or panel chair duties really do open your mind to topics that perahps you might not otherwise have attended,as well as giving you the opportunity to converse with researchers working in different, but often parallel fields to your own.
I enjoyed the sessions very much, definitely more so than shortlisting abstracts for presentation.
In those situations, you find yourself sometimes refusing work that someone has obviously worked hard on,but has less value than others, and that leaves quite a bad feeling when it has to be done.
It seems that not many researchers in RG have experience in congresses, I expected more experiences, pq is good to know the exchange of ideas, to meet people and read works in congresses
I tend to go to a restricted group of conferences centering on my own interests and work related fields, and given that those fields are in themselves quite restricted,it may account for the number of times I've been involved in this way.
I'm sure a lot more of us have experiences to share, but it does take time for a question to reach wider numbers perhaps.
I may be wrong Catia Cillóniz but i don't like posters. it makes me feel as a lot stuff has been pushed into small bag...Secondly the appeal behind posters is more of aesthetics and colors and less in terms of scientific data.
Anyway its short cut to scientific data presentation but my views are like this. May be old and suffering from vision issues but still try to go for oral presentation with slides where i can explain my stuff better.
Sorry for these contradiction but seriously this is how i interpret.
