The FRQ is comprised of 5-point scales that assess adolescent and parental perceptions of conflict, dominance, and affect within dyadic family relationships. In this study, only scales that pertained to the mother-adolescent dyad were employed. The scales have good face validity and test-retest reliability (mean r = .70 at a two-week interval; Henggeler & Tavormina, 1980) and have been shown to predict serious and repeated crime among adolescents and their siblings. The EPI is a well-validated instrument that provided indexes of adolescent and maternal extraversion, neuroticism, and social desirability" (Borduin & Henggeler, 1987).
