Hi everyone,
I have a few questions regarding to the real FTIR (ATR ) application.
Currently I'm doing optical test to check the absorbance properties of the sample. I managed to use UV-VIS to measure absorbance value from 0 to 2.5 micron. However,my research requires me to check the absorbance properties from 0 to 8 micron.
My first question, Can I use ftir ATR (Perkinelmer 400 spectrum FTIR ATR) to measure the absorbance value for the extended range (2.5 micron to 10 micron)? If it is possible, how to know the absorbance range since I have to synchronise my data from both UV-VIS and FTIR ATR so that I am able to plot complete graph ranging from 0 to 8 micron.
Second question, For ATR ,is it the range between 0 to 1 similar with uv vis?(uv vis used range 0 to 1 for absorbance value indication).....if the range for absorbance using ATR is not similar with uv vis, how about the absorbance unit (A.U)? Does the absorbance unit have range from 0 to 6?
I really hope someone can help me to figure out my unsolved question since not much peoples know to maximize the usage of ftir ATR. Most of the researchers just used ATR to measure transmittance percentage or maybe some of them just used to check the sample functional group where the transmittance and absorbance value is not much used and appreciated (most of them reallign the data according to baseline and not used the original transmittance graph). It will be really helpful if one of the researcher that known the ftir ATR concept or maybe have done the absorbance measurement using ATR to assist me regarding to those questions.
Thank you in advanve for the help :)
