Thermal cyclodehydration of poly hydrazides has been well reported as a good route to obtaining poly 1,3,4 - oxadiazoles. However, a huge drawback is the poor film-forming ability of the resulting product. While solution cyclodehydration of the poly hydrazides using a strong dehydrating agent is an alternative, there have been studies that show the resulting poly 1,3,4-oxadiazoles to be insoluble in common organic solvents, therefore, making it impossible for solution casting to be done. I need ideas on how to get good films from the product of the thermal cyclodehydration, your thoughts would be greatly helpful.
