If yes, then its for better visualization of your sample.
2. About significance, there are many more review papers written on the subject you can refer them. Significance depends on the application you want to study. I haven't any expertise in gold nanoparticles or nanocomposites based on gold particles but as per my knowledge for the answer of your questions that gold nanoparticles in biomedical field mainly have diagnostic application or for imaging purpose, may be for their better optical properties like light emission, flouresscene, scattering, etc for diagnostic reasons. You might also find number of articles and reviews having different significance of metal based nanocomposites or nanoparticles. Generally zetapotential values inform us about the charge on surface of nanoparticle because surface charge plays an important role in the stability of different nanoparticles, also they are count for the functionalization of nanoparticles surface with different molecules so they can be bind with cell receptor or to vanish the hydrophobic characteristics of nanoparticles. For the solubility issue may be you can go at molecular level to see the causes, either intermolecular forces play their roles or what, I dont know but if you can search you will find your answer.
