Dear Sir/Madam,
I am conducting research that requires the conversion of qualitative data to quantitative data. However, most of the Apps for this action are so expensive that I cannot afford them here in Nigeria because of the volatile exchange rate. Also, my university cannot afford them due to budget constraints. Is there any chance of getting free software for this?

Hi, I have not heard of a software that can convert qualitative to quantitative. These are both different methods of data collection and unique in purpose. Perhaps the biographical information only can be converted using excel etc, but the rest wont be. Qualitative responses are open ended, inductive in nature and they differ from respondent to respondent. Even if they could be quantitatively coded, it would not be consistent. One should analyse it qualitatively using Nvivo etc, but if you cannot have access to such software, then perhaps do a narrative analysis. Goodluck.
There are programs that allow you to export various aspects of your coding as spreadsheet data for quantitative analysis, but I am not aware of any of the free programs that have this feature.
You might look into Dedoose, which is totally online and charges you only for the time that you actually use the program.
Try to download Atlas ti. There are many Youtube tutorials on how to use it. It will analyse your qualitative data satisfactorily depending upon the degree to which you engage with it.
