Dear Colleagues,
Please, I am working on some geochemical data of beach sands with the aim of determining their paleoweathering histories and provenance. The samples appear to have high CIA values depicting intense weathering mainly chemical weathering as they plot in the semi-humid environment of the SiO2 vs Al2O3+K2O+N2O diagram of Suttner and Dutta (1986). I expected low/trace concentrations of the labile minerals (e.g. oxides) since they are susceptible to weathering. However, some of my samples have high oxide concentrations. Please, what might be causing this discrepancy?
