I added anisol in chlorosulfonic acid and refluxed it but i think it is converted into 4-methoxybenzenesulfonic acid, give single spot on tlc at the base line in number of tlc solvents. I also stirred the same reaction at 0*C two spots appear on tlc, one at base line and the other at rf 0.3 in 30%EtOAc/n-Hexane but this is so minute.. please help me
1 mol of anisole is added dropwise (a three-necked flask with a blender, a reflux condenser and a gas outlet tube, with a thermometer and a dropping funnel) at 0-5 degrees to 3 mol of chlorosulfonic acid. Stir at room temperature until the evolution of hydrogen chloride ceases. The solid sulfochloids are washed thoroughly with water, and the liquid ones are extracted with chloroform and washed with water and bicarbonate, recrystallized.Traction, safety glasses gloves!
