PRP is plasma with many more platelets than what is typically found in blood. The platelets are best known for their importance in clotting blood. However, platelets also contain hundreds of proteins called growth factors which are very important in the healing of injuries.
Wound or any other healing is a complex process into witch a great many cells, transmitters and hormones are included. The human body always works with stimulators and inhibitors keeping the balance needed to do the job.
Although it migh seem logic to enhance healing by adding the "right" cell we must consider that even within that cell inhibitors might be acting. Or it might attract inhibitors from outside.
And we often don't know (e.g. shoulder arthroscopy) if the PRP stays where we put it. Thus unfortunately so far there is no convincing evidence that it might really help healing.
