I am trying find the find the extinction cross section of an array of nanoparticles suspended in water. Usually, when there is a substrate present (Ex. glass), we first solve for the background electric field as the reflected wave interact with the incident wave. Similarly, when there are two nanoparticles, the background electric field for one NP should be influenced by the presence of the other NP and vise versa. Well..I am not sure if my question is legitimate. Thank you!
