Place cell for linear track

Hi,

May I ask the original paper which mentions the directionality of place cells in a linear track?

like how they define the forward and reverse tracks. I have looked at very old papers by O'keefe, McNaughton and Moser and couldn't find. Could anyone advise? thanks.
