I want to model the pressure on pipe using pipe pressure load in ABAQUS. After I select the body and press done, a warning message appears: "The selected region is invalid for the application of pipe pressure". I modeled the pipe using both 3D solid and 3D shell creation. What should I do?
I want to model a horizontal pipe with hydrostatic load acting upon its exterior surface. Does the hydrostatic pressure distribution in abaqus acts on normal direction to the curved surfaces?
Try to model the pipe using pipe elements instead of solid or shell.

In the simplest case by a higher density of the pipe material. Other simple possibilities are a body force (BX, BY, BZ - depending on the coordinate system) or a line load (PX, PY, PZ - depending on the coordinate system) for PIPE-elements.
