Hi,
I have a thin layer of piezoelectric material sandwiched between relatively thin film of two distinct metals. I am experiencing few problems while setting up the simulation.
First, the material properties for metals require coupling matrix even though they are not piezoelectric materials.
Second, comsol prefers stress-charge form parameters. How do I change this setting to strain-charge form so, I won't have to change elasticity to compliance matirx and d-matrix to e-matrix?
And last, how do I know whether the relative permittivity on material datasheet is given at constant stress or constant strain?

Please select metals as linear elastic material. And piezoelectric as piezoelectric material in solid mechanics tab.
Also changes accordingly in electrostatics tab. Please select piezoelectric domain in charge conservation window

what type of result you want to obtain?
if you are looking for the output voltage then you have to add ground and floating potential. you have not added ground and floating potential in the model.

I have a piezoelectric material sandwiched between two metal films. I want to measure the potential across the plate. So in the definition tab, I added domain and boundary probe and set the expression to V, which measures the potential across the metal films. I believe this should give me the results I need. Please correct me if I am wrong.
In the electrostatic node, I added the ground but not floating/electric potential since I am not applying voltage, I am just measuring it. However, I have added the electric potential just to see its effect in my results. I am also not sure about floating and electric potential. Could you tell me how they are different to each other and in which cases we should use one over the other?

I have gone through your way of simulation. yes the voltage change can be monitored by the use of probe. But I am not using the probe in my simulation. I have done same thing but little bit different. I am attaching you the prototype file of simulation method. PFA.
for to see the results first you have to simulate both study.
please look into the way of simulation. I think this will help.
stress constant to strain constant
g33=d33/(e*eo)
g33 is stress constant, d33 is strain constant, e is relative permittivity, eo is permittivity of a vacuum.
