After loading 2D seismic lines in Petrel, I added three exploratory wells ( which supposed to be within the same 2D area) but these wells appears off the interesting area when I visualized them in the Petrel window. is this an issue with coordinates system? or it is related to another subject.

Hi Faisel, I ask to the Schlumberger Customer Care Center, and they explain to me:
There are a few possible reasons for the difference in XY location;
1. Coordinate reference system. Please double check any source material you have for the wells or the seismic data. Please also confirm the correct CRS conversion is talking place when importing into Petrel.
2. Unit system. Please check that the seismic, wells and project all use the same XY unit e.g. m or ft. Do a simple check of the seismic and wells XY coordinates to see if the difference is the ft to m conversion i.e. a factor of ~3.
3. The data itself is incorrect or the data has been imported incorrectly.

Hi Faisel.
A very good question indeed.
I went through the same issue while loading data and the reason was coordinate reference system. Sometimes conversion of CRS needs to be applied before loading/importing the data. For instance, (in my case) while loading/importing the seismic data from New Zealand, I had to change the latitude and longitude values from software, to make it acceptable for Petrel.
