For a university year 2 coursework I have a very basic dataset from using quadrats while diving to find which animals are living on coral. I also took several measurements from each quadrat including temperature, coral height, depth, %cover by coral, and subjective level of degredation.
I want to compare the abundance of animal groups to these habitat variables using a perMANOVA and the R (studio) package 'vegen'.
How should I lay out my data in excel?
How does one interpret the results of a perMANOVA?
Is there anything I should do before using a perMANOVA? e.g. I have seen someone mention using NMDS Bray-Curtis-Analysis before a perMANOVA

If your prmanova has p < 0.05, then you do post hoc tests on the variables. You can do Bray Curtis too, but then you have to say why you did it and what it shows
